Summary: Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison-even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Coommonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.
If you read my Cinder review you know I put off reading this series till this month, and now I have devoured them.. Seriously I am already on Fairest, and I really can’t wait till Winter comes out. Like I really can’t I need to know what happens. Like now… But this is not about Winter this is about Scarlet. So let’s talk about Scarlet! Um let me just say that I love her. These characters are so diverse and interesting and I love being in their world. I love seeing Thorne be a smart-ass. I love when Wolf gets all protective and cute with Scarlet. This is definitely one of those series that I will keep forever and read over and over and over again. It really is. Scarlet is a normal human girl, but she’s fierce and she’s brave and she’s sarcastic and can’t keep her mouth shut for anything (sounds familiar ;D). For a long time humans have been taught to hate Lunars and Cyborgs without question, and yet her is Scarlet never letting anyone tell her what to do. Knowing that maybe there is more to Lunars and Cyborgs than anyone realizes. I love that she questions things. That she doesn’t follow the normal way of life around her. She doesn’t care if people think she’s strange or crazy she won’t ever give up her beliefs and I love seeing that in female characters. Marissa just has such an amazing way of writing female characters. I don’t know how to explain it to someone who hasn’t read the book, but if you have hopefully you know what I mean. They are just so real, and yeah I know some are people who live on the moon, and one girl is a cyborg/lunar and has powers, but aside from that these characters just jump to life right in front of your face.
Now Wolf *swoon* I mean I love Wolf. I love a guy who is quite and shy and blushes easily but fierce and protective and has an air of confidence and wold has that. Oh and the way he protects Scarlet is just so cute! Now there is a lot that I don’t want to give away because I really really could not have predicted some of the things that happened in this book like I could with Cinder, so I want you to be surprised! I hope that so-and-so gets rescued and reunited with that guy, and I am really happy that that other person is dead! They definitely deserved it!
Honestly though I have become a big pusher of these books! And when you read this book you really can’t help but fall in love with all these characters. Marissa’s writing draws you in until you can’t stop and you feel as if you are a part of this ragtag team of heroes and I love it. I love that Marissa has written such amazing characters. Characters that you feel a connection to. It’s not everyday you come across stories with such amazing characters. I really could not recommend this series anymore than I already have. So if you have not read it yet I really really suggest you do yourself a favor and go pick up all the books! They’re in paperback as well so they won’t be that expensive!
This book was just so well written and so amazing. That I can’ imagine in a few months it’ll be over and I will have to say goodbye to these characters I know and love! But It won’t be for awhile and even then I can go back and re-read!
Sorry for the crazy rambling that is what happens when I like a book so much I can’t think straight!
