Summary: Nicolette’s awful stepsisters call her “Mechanica” to demean her, but the nickname fits: she learned to be an inventor at her mother’s knee. Her mom is gone now, through, and the Steps have turned her into a servant in her own home.

But on her sixteenth birthday, Nicolette discovers a secret workshop in the cellar and begins to dare to imagine a new life for herself. Could the mysterious books and tools hidden there-and the mechanical menagerie, led by a tiny metal horse named Jules-be the key to escaping her dreary existence? With a technological exposition and royal ball on the horizon, the timing might just be perfect for Nicolette to earn her freedom at last.

Gorgeous prose and themes of social justice and family shine in this richly imagined Cinderella retelling about an indomitable inventor who finds her prince… but realizes she doesn’t want a fairy tale happy ending after all.

Doesn’t this just sound amazing! I am loving all the fairy tale retelling’s that are happening right now in YA universe and so I am really excited to add this one to my collection. Plus look at the cover of this book! It’s amazing and Beautiful! I’ve also read some of the book from the free download and let me just say that it is good! REALLY GOOD! I love that while it’s a classic fairy tale it doesn’t sound like it’s gonna follow completely in the footsteps of the original Cinderella. I have also joined Betsy’s street team and I am so happy that I was able to do that! I love books and I love street teams! I think they are one of the best ways to share your love for your authors and their books. Just an FYI right now over on Amazon Mechanica is available for pre-order for just 10 bucks!
