Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is top ten books that would be on your syllabus if you taught YA fantasy. Here is my list of ten books.
1. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater: I love love love this book series! This would literally be one of my favorite books to teach from! I mean you have an amazing cast of characters. I mean I would pretty much teach all of Maggie’s books to be honest.
2. The Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes: I love this series, quite a bit. I mean the magic and the world that these characters live in is just so amazing. This would definitely be on my list of books to teach.
3. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken: Another great series! I love this ragtag team and the powers they have. I usually am not a fan of the dystopian element but I think this one is just so good I don’t really care.
4. Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood: I actually won this in a giveaway, because witches, and I didn’t think I would like but I have absolutely fell in love with this series! It’s just so amazing and I love Finn.
5. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor: Absolutely crazy, amazing, fantastic world! This is one of my favorite series! I would definitely want this to be on my list so I could share this with my students.
6. Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan: This is another amazing series out there that I love. I think this world and these characters are just fantastic. I love that the main character, Kami is so bad ass and will stop at nothing to get the story. I think a lot of young adults can learn from her.
7. Cinder by Marissa Meyer: Can I just say, badass characters and story. Like that would be my reason for including this one on this list.
8. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling: I mean I don’t really think this needs to be explained… But I love the friendship and the magic and just the overall series is amazing! I’m sure the students could find this on their own but I grew up with this series, so there will always be a place for it in my heart!
9. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch: This one would definitely be on my list. I just love everything about this one. I think people could learn a lot from this, plus it’s just a fun read!
10. Nevermore by Kelly Creagh: Honestly I think I would teach this right alongside Poe. I think it’s just a great combination and I love that it’s so creepy. It would definitely be taught during Halloween.
Alrighty that is my list for this week! If you guys want to join in just post your list on your blog and link back over on The Broke and The Bookish!

I think like 3/4 of my Goodreads TBR is fantasy! Mine too, I love that series so much. Neither can I, but I’m sure the last book will be epic (it better be, with the length of time we’ve had to wait for it!). I definitely will, all of those are ones I’m pretty excited for!
